April 1st, 2019 is the launch date for the Edx joint course, with the Smithsonian, entitled “Star Trek: Inspiring Culture and Technology”. As per the course we will be keeping track of “Starlogs” from which we can write down our thoughts and feelings about the course including the discussion of Star Trek episodes and themes as well as the answers to particular questions.
This is the main reason for the creation of this blog, but as I’ve always pondered creating a fun space to jot down feelings on fandom (such as TV shows, video games, and comics) this act kills two birds with one proverbial stone.
I look forward to the class, as well as another opportunity to test the boundaries between pop culture, fandom, and academia. As back in 2015 I took a similar course on Edx, also with the Smithsonian, on the phenomena of Super Heroes.
